Cartridges

There are so many different types of Cartridges and many ways in which to purchase.  There are refillable ones as well as proprietary such as Hewlett Packard (HP), Epson, Brother etc.

Where to Start

Printers can almost do the laundry these days and choosing one that is just right for your needs can be a tricky business.  It can be difficult to decide what features will be useful for you and which ones are just going to constitute the electronic bells and whistles.

Some printer features are listed below but are not limited to:

  • Multifunction centre which includes scanner, fax, copier and phone
  • Scanner
  • Photocopier
  • Photo quality printer
  • Photo editor
  • Laser printer
  • Inkjet printer

When choosing the "perfect fit" analyse your current usage and then determine the following:

  • How many prints you will be creating
  • What type of printing you will be doing - high quality, drafts, photos
  • Would a multifuncation centre be more suited to your space constraints and business size
  • Are you on a tight budget
  • Are you concerned about the impact a printer has on the environment

What Next

Once you have the answers above then you can start to limit your choices by searching for printers with just the features that you want.  You can then sum up how much the printers cost, how much are the ongoing consumer costs then sort out what type of cartridges the printer uses.  They may be toner or inkjet and from this you can determine how often they need replacing and what your ongoing costs are.
