Toner Cartridges

There are many Toner Cartridges for printers.  When considering your purchase consider refillable toner cartridges which may be a lot more cost effective and also environmentally friendly.

Where to Start

Consumable needs should be calculated before purchasing your hardware.  Printers for example can come with full sized toner cartridges which can be more expensive than the printer itself.  Some others come with a cut down toner cartridge making the initial purchase of the printer more expensive.

Some lower end printers can cost less to replace completely rather than purchasing a new toner cartridge and drum.  Consider this when making your initial purchase.  If however you have already purchased your hardware you will need to note the make and model and search for suitable consumables.  Ensure that you have installed the latest version of the drivers as this may address any bug fixes related to print quality.

Cost versus Quality

Consider the following:

• What is the printers main use - draft or high quality?
• How many printers do you have?
• Do you have a dedicated team member that looks after consumables?
• Are your machines still under warranty and if so do refilled cartridges void any warranty?
• Does the cartridge supplier have a delivery service?
• What is the turnaround time?
• Do you need to replace the cartridge after a certain number of refills?
• Will the supplier give you a sample of the toner if it is not a proprietary brand?
• Will a refill be suitable for your brand of printer?

Some manuacturers may have strict policies about using refillable toner cartridges with their printers.  Make sure that you check the cocumentation supplied with your printer.
