Post Office
It is hard to imagine that with the advent of the internet and high tech cell phones, people nowadays seem to have forgotten just how useful the post office is. It used to be that in the past this facility helps the people stay connected with their family and friends located in other places, today their usefulness has been reduced to sending items that cannot be sent via cell phone or email like large packages.
It used to be that the post office is just an agency that the government placed to provide the public an answer to their postal needs. Nowadays, it is uncommon to see privately owned offices that offer practically the same things as the government owned.
How Useful Was It
Traditionally, the post office is a place that sorts out, receives, posts, handles, and transports mails. Aside from the people's mails, this government agency also is responsible for putting up mail boxes along the neighborhood and collecting its contents. This is also the agency that is responsible for providing postage as well packaging supplies. Aside from these services, there are some who also offer non postal services such as handling passports and delivery checks or money orders.
Who Mans the Office and Take Care of the Posts
The postal office is manned by a few postal service clerks. Their job is to receive the letters and packages or parcels. If these are for mailing, the clerks will make sure that these are sent to the right address. If these are received, the clerks will make sure that every one of the letters and parcels are distributed to their rightful owners. The mailmen or women are the ones responsible for personally delivering the items to their corresponding address.
How Much It Costs to Mail Something and What Are Its Factors
The post office offers its services to the public according to their specific postal rates. Letters have different rates compared to parcels. Ordinary mail costs way less than the express mail. So far, the rates of the services offered by the office are subject to change. This, just like almost everything else, depends highly on the cost of the transportation. The factors considered in this are fuel and the man power. Because of this, it is never safe to assume that the cost of mailing a letter a year ago would be the same as the one for this year.
